Philanthropist Bert Brodsky Honored by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA), a New York-based national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing optimal care to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and their families, honored Bert E. Brodsky, AFA’s founding chairman, at its “Together for Care:  Profiles In Caregiving,” a reception and concert on November 14 in New York. Brodsky, a resident of Sands Point, N.Y., got involved in the cause as a result of caring for his mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease.

As founding and current chairman, he has been actively engaged in AFA’s growth into an organization that unites 1,600 member organizations nationwide, and provides myriad programs and services for individuals with dementia, and family and professional caregivers.

Brodsky is executive chairman of Sandata Technologies, LLC, Port Washington, N.Y., the leading nationwide provider of information technology solutions to the home healthcare industry. He has numerous other business holdings, and civic and philanthropic appointments.

“Since AFA’s inception, Bert Brodsky has provided the leadership and guidance that has helped propel the organization to where it is today,” said Carol Steinberg, AFA’s president. “It is appropriate to honor him during National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month, in November, because of his passionate commitment to advance the cause and, most of all, to support families affected by this heartbreaking disease.”
